Imriel and Sidonie, the dauphine of Terre d’Ange, have been in love for some time and finally admit it publicly in the court of Queen Ysandre. Imriel e Sidonie, la delfina di Terre d'Ange,sono innamorati da molto tempo e finalmente lo ammettono pubblicamente davanti alla corte e alla Regina Ysandre. Il regno è diviso in due: alcuni sostengono l'amore tra i due giovani mentre altri non riescono a dimenticare i tradimenti di Mèlisande, madre di Imriel, che hanno causato la guerra contro gli Skaldi e la perdita di molte vite. Ysandre non riconoscerà la loro relazione e, se la coppia si sposerà senza la sua benedizione, Sidonie verrà diseredata. Imriel sa che soltanto un grande atto di fedeltà da parte sua soddisferà i precetti del Beato Elua, la regina e il popolo. Per amore di Sidonie e del suo paese egli decide quindi di partire per trovare sua madre e riportarla a Terre d'Ange affinchè venga giustiziata.
Ma c'è anche un popolo straniero, che possiede una potente magia nera, che mira a conquistare Sidonie e Terre d'Ange.
Durante La Notte più Lunga essi liberano questa magia nera rendendo così gli Angeline vittime di un incantesimo che causa loro la perdita della memoria.
Imriel,l'unico a essere scampato all'incantesimo, deve riuscire a salvare il Regno e la sua amata Sidonie dagli invasori.
